The healthcare group in Deventer
Solis has 6 nursing home locations and is really only active in Deventer. “Here and there another outpost, but these are mainly physio practices” says Arco. The employees, therapists, specialists, district nurses, (domestic) caretakers and volunteers of Solis put their heart and soul into serving their clients every day. In which they place great value on personal contact. Because there are so many locations and a large number of colleagues, internal communication is very important within Solis and their activities. This is where Xelion become very useful.
Finding Xelion
Previously, the healthcare organization worked with KPN, but with the elimination of ISDN, it was time to take a new step.
Trends ICT brought help in finding the right cloud provider. After Ronald de Jong of Trends ICT was asked about the phasing out of ISDN, Xelion was mentioned. The deciding factor for Solis was its innovative use of Chromebooks, something Xelion could relate to and valued. This made it an attractive choice for Solis and so the decision was made to partner with Xelion. Paul Jongejan, partner manager at Xelion, became involved and eventually Solis became an end customer of Xelion. To this day, they are very happy with this decision.
So it seems that by combining a clear need for cloud solutions and the strong relationship with Trends ICT, Solis made the right choice. Having the right technology and support has allowed them to take their communications to the next level.
What was it like then and what is it like now?
The transformation of the infrastructure at Solis has been profound. Arco emphasizes that the old telephone system was completely abandoned, which was a major step in revamping their communications system. Although parts of the infrastructure still operate over the Internet, it has been moving forward in every way.
“With the elimination of traditional phone lines, a lot has changed. The introduction of the Xelion app on mobile devices is a very big plus” says Arco. He indicates that otherwise they no longer use landline phones.
There used to be traditional telephones at various locations, but they quickly fell out of use, says Arco. Nowadays, everything revolves around telephony via the Xelion app, which is mainly used on cell phones. This change has not only increased efficiency, but also greatly improved the way the team communicates and works together.
How do you like it?
“Yes fine” says Arco. “In the beginning we started using it enthusiastically. We used a lot of licenses, but you notice that that is now becoming less” says Arco. The functionalities of Xelion can be personalized.Colleagues experience which functionalities they need and apply them, they use the telephone directories and want to be able to reach everyone. Of course, there are also colleagues who do not need much and only want to make phone calls, for which there is not much need in terms of licenses. They only call the people they actually need for their work and with that limited access they are completely satisfied. It all doesn't have to be so extensive for them because their work just doesn't require it.
So, you can actually see that there is a difference in how the licenses are used. Where some need more options to function properly, others are fine with the minimum number of licenses.
Utilization
“We don't run into any problems with Xelion,” Yvonne says with satisfaction. “It's very practical for us. We can find all our contacts quickly and easily in the address book, and it's just nice to have everything to hand within one app. It makes working so much easier.”
She continues: “Otherwise, we mainly use chat and email, especially when things need to be arranged. But if it's really urgent, it's just taken up over the phone. That works fine for us.”
“What we don't use enough at the moment is attendance,” Yvonne adds. “But forwarding, on the other hand, is really a big benefit. It makes it so much easier to stay accessible even when you're not at your desk.”
"It makes it so much easier to stay accessible even when you're not at your desk.”

Benny the Certified Engineer
Ronald de Jong of Trends ICT emphasizes that Benny van den Hoonaard, Certified Engineer Xelion at Trends ICT, also deserves credit. He has a special talent for explaining complex systems clearly. His thorough knowledge of the system and his ability to convey this in an understandable way make him a very unique engineer. Many engineers are concerned only with programming and have little contact with customers, but Benny is the opposite of that. “I really appreciate taking him to customers” says Ronald.
Benny is entirely passionate about Xelion and is always working on it, literally from morning to night. If a problem pops up somewhere, Benny is always called in and knows how to solve it in no time.
How would you describe the application?
Both Arco and Yvonne are very pleased with Xelion.
"Overall, I would definitely describe Xelion as clear, reliable." "And functional." Arco adds enthusiastically. “It does exactly what it's supposed to do.”
