the Xelion Windows App
Migration from the app installer version to
the version in the Microsoft Store.

Before we ask you to start the migration, we will first provide Xelion partners with an overview of the Xelion Windows app versions used by their customers. Once you have received this overview from us, we will communicate the new deadline for the migration.
Why migrate?
Xelion currently maintains two versions of the Windows App: the app installer version and the Microsoft Store version. To optimise the management of the Xelion Windows App, we want to focus on a single version. In addition, the Microsoft Store makes the app easier for end users to find, and the installation process is more user-friendly.
That’s why, from a later-to-be-announced deadline, the Xelion Windows app will only be available via the Microsoft Store.
What has Xelion done to make the migration as easy as possible?
We have added extra code to the most recent app installer version. This code ensures that the migration settings are retained by the app. By migration settings, we mean the user's login details and personal settings.
When the Microsoft Store version of the app is installed and launched, the migration settings are transferred from the app installer version. After a successful migration, the app installer version is automatically removed.
How can you assist us?
We kindly ask that you inform your customers about this change. Please also ask them to switch to the version in the Microsoft Store before the deadline.
How does the end user install the Xelion Windows app?
The simplest way for end users to install the Xelion Windows App is to download it from the Microsoft Store.
How does the IT administrator distribute the Xelion Windows app?
Sometimes, employees of an organisation are not permitted to install software independently. In that case, the IT administrator can distribute the app to multiple users at the same time.

The user can check this in the Xelion Windows App. In the app, go to Settings > About and see whether “-appinst” appears after the app version. If this is the case, the user is still using the App Installer version.
We are currently adding a new feature to the Xelion Admin Client that will provide per-tenant insight into the app versions used by end users.
The user will not receive a notification if the migration data transfer fails. What the user will notice is that they will have to log in again after the app has been migrated to the Microsoft Store version. This applies to a small proportion of users. Please note that users may request their login details.
Users will not receive a pop-up notification before the 1st May deadline. Users who are still using the App Installer version after the deadline will receive a pop-up message. This message will ask them to download the Microsoft Store version or contact their IT administrator.
As of 1st May 2026, support for the App Installer version will end. After this date, it will no longer receive updates, maintenance, or security improvements, and we will no longer provide technical support for this version.
